A show that still feels like a field, not a mall

Hill Country Invitational is the one I mark on the shop calendar in Sharpie. Dripping Springs, late light, chopped Mercs and a Bel Air that still has Texas dust in the wheel lips.

They do not pack you in like a parking-garage concours. There is grass. There is an oak. Somebody is always talking about a 9-inch they swear is original.

Bring the car you actually drive. Leave the trailer princess at home unless it earned the miles. I will be in the vendor row looking at tin.
